Unlicensed breeder in Pierce County case found guilty on 62 charges

In April 2016, Animal Humane Society and the ASPCA assisted the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office with the seizure of 48 dogs from an unlicensed breeding facility in Elmwood, Wis. On October 25, 2017, a Pierce County jury found the owner of that facility, Stuart Earl West, guilty on 62 misdemeanor charges related to the treatment of these dogs.

West was found guilty on six counts of improper animal shelter space, 48 counts of failure to provide proper food and drink to animals and eight counts of animal mistreatment.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 30.
