We had talked about adopting a second dog for awhile, but were waiting for the right dog to come along. I had been checking the Animal Humane Society website here and there and one day came across a handsome 5-month-old puppy named Donovan. He was featured as a Forget-Me-Not along with a video. He had been at the Animal Humane Society for about three months. I was instantly in love. I showed everyone I know the video and couldn't stop thinking about him. So, on January 8th, I went to the St. Paul Animal Humane Society to meet Donovan and adopted him that day.
We have a Lab puppy, Avery, at home who is almost exactly four months older than Donovan. The day we brought Donovan (who we renamed Odie) home, they played continuously for the next few days. The two of them hit it off right away and haven't stopped playing together since. They are inseparable. Odie loves playing outside, playing with his big brother Avery, going to doggy day care a couple times a week to play with his puppy friends, and going for walks. He is also infatuated with our 3-year-old Calico cat, who we also adopted from the Animal Humane Society. He tries to play with her and give her kisses every chance he gets, much to her dismay. She is very intrigued by him, but on her terms only, of course. When he can't get to her, he sits and barks and whines until she is in his reach. He is such a happy puppy and is ALWAYS giving puppy kisses or wanting to snuggle. Now that we have had Odie home for almost three months, I can't imagine our home without him. We love him so much!
