My husband and I received Nadia from the Golden Valley shelter (name at the shelter: Briana). Nadia was a stray, and no history was known of her. She only weighed about 3 pounds. Nadia pulled at me through the cage, and when I held her, she clung to me. When we brought her come, she was very scared. She would not eat or go to the bathroom- we feared something was very wrong with her. We also noticed she had a hard time walking- something seemed to be wrong with her back legs, but she did not seem to be in pain. However, Nadia had such a sweet soul and we knew there was a cat in there who longed to be loved, and wanted to trust us.
With patience and time, Nadia has truly blossomed. she loves to look out the patio door, play with toys, and eat cat cookies. Nadia loves to watch "Animal Planet"- she will meow at me if I turn the tv off! It took effort and gentle encouragement, but Nadia is now fully integrated into our home, sitting on the couch with us and "talking" to us.
We had our doubts about adopting a full-grown cat. But I want everyone to know that this should not deter them. Nadia has turned into the best cat either of us has ever had- loving, sociable, and truly happy to be here.
