Louie

My son and I lost our beloved basset hound Bessie in January due to a heart condition that we did not know she had. It was a horrible time for the both of us. Over the last few months I was looking at rescue sites and I happened to come across Louie on the Coon Rapids Humane Society site. He had only been at the shelter for 2 days. Just neutered and a chip placed. He was in his previous home for 6 months and then given up because they had to move. I immediately called my mom and we jumped in the car to meet Louie.

It was love at first sniff. I grabbed his paper work and started the adoption process right away. We arrived just in time to actually adopt, they were closing shortly.

Since Louie has been home, he has been a great addition. The cats hate him but...that is what cats do with dogs. He took about a week to adjust (little less), which I thought was great considering what a week he had (new family, neutered, old family gone). He sleeps in his crate some times and in bed with mom sometimes...depends on what he feels like that day.

Although he does not replace our dear Bessie Mae, he has filled that hole left in our hearts with joy and puppyness.
