Dakota

Dakota

We adopted Dakota on January 4, 2011. We had just lost our other lab at 14 years old. We loved him so much and we were looking for another senior dog. My daughter noticed Dakota on the Animal Humane Society's website and told me right away. She said she sounds like a perfect fit for our family, which she was. We went that night to go get her. Dakota loves stuffed animals, walks, tennis balls and rawhide bones. She tolerates the cats and is very good with my daycare children. We can tell she was very well taken care of. She knows four commands and is very laid back. The first night the only sound she made was snoring. We didn't know what kind of a bark she had. The second night we asked if she wanted to go on a car ride to Petco to get a new leash and collar. She was ecstatic and barked until we got her in the car. Now we make sure we don't say 'car ride' unless we mean it. It has been close to a month now and she feels very comfortable here. She loves to sleep with the daycare kids at nap time and has her own bed at night to sleep in. Dakota is more than we could have hoped for. She really is a good girl. The family that had her took very good care of her and we are thrilled to have her.
