Ben

My first adoption from the Animal Humane Society was my lab/springer mix, Lindsey, who brought me many smiles and memories for 16 years. Two years ago I started looking on the website and visiting the Coon Rapids location on a regular basis. There were so many older dogs up for adoption. Daily I checked the website and would choose 4 dogs to be adopted and was amazed that 3 of the 4 had found homes. I turned it into a game and then one morning I saw Ben, a 6-year-old Golden Retriever. I had a vacation day and on the way of many errands to do I stopped by the Coon Rapids location. I spent time with each dog, petting and playing with them, and then I came to Ben. He was patiently waiting for his turn with a big smile. I spent a few minutes with him and then it was time for his walk. He seemed torn what to do so I walked away. I went outside to watch him run through the woods and snow. On his way in he saw me watching and the staff member brought him over to me. He came running with a big smile towards me.  He sat down next to me and raised his paw. Ben had found his forever family. I have had Ben a year now full of smiles, laughs and a lot of love. I still choose my 4 dogs daily on the web site remembering the day I brought Ben home with his big smile and mine.
