Introduction to Therapy Animals

Does your pet have what it takes to be a therapy animal? Would you like to give back to your community by volunteering to visit various facilities with your pet?

Join us for an Introduction to Therapy Animals session to learn more about animal-assisted therapy and activities. You'll find out what type of training your animal needs, and how you can be registered as a therapy animal team. View our events calendar for upcoming Introduction to Therapy Animal sessions. All information sessions are free, but reservations are required to attend. Call the Training School at (763) 489-2217 or contact Training online to register for the next Introduction to Therapy Animals program.

Animal Ambassadors Animal-Assisted Therapy Visiting Program

The Animal Humane Society's Animal Ambassadors are specially-trained volunteers who, along with their own pets, provide animal-assisted therapy and activities to people throughout the Twin Cities metro area.  Through visits with residents in nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities, and in reading sessions with children at local schools and libraries, these unique volunteers bring comfort, learning, and fun to the people they reach.

Facilites interested in arranging visits from these teams should contact (763) 432-4825 for more information.
