Sadie Blue's Success Story

Sadie Blue's Success Story

Some companies send out mugs, or candies in fancy jars, or poinsettias to clients at holiday time, but one Minnesota company went for something a little more unique. Shepherd Data Services in Minneapolis takes the money it would use for client gifts and makes a donation every year to AHS. The company does litigation support work for local law firms (www.shepherddata.com). The name of the company was inspired by the adoption of Sadie from AHS in 2001. She’s an Australian-German shepherd mix that was part of a large, abandoned litter. AHS was able to save part of the litter, including Sadie. She had some medical problems, but after going home with Christine, Sadie quickly grew stronger and healthier in her new home.

Now Sadie goes to work with Christine every day and is considered part of the staff as the company mascot. She even has her own couch at the office. Christine pledged that, if the new company was successful, a portion of the profits every year would be donated to AHS. “Animals don’t have benefactors and can’t call for help. In a bad economy they’re the first to suffer, so it’s important to help them,” Sadie’s owner Christine says. And that’s how the annual company holiday card tribute to Sadie began. The card is always dog themed and includes information about AHS. The company has been doing well enough over the past few years to make a donation every year to AHS. Sadie and all of her coworkers hope to be able to continue the holiday giving for many years to come.
