In 2006, Animal Humane Society (Coon Rapids & Golden Valley), Humane Society for Companion Animals (Saint Paul & Woodbury), and Greater West Metro Humane Society (Buffalo) merged into one organization and retained the name Animal Humane Society.  We have retained the legal rights to all prior names.

Minnesota Charities Review Council’s Standards of Accountability state that at least 70% of an organization’s annual expenses be for program activity with not more than 30% for management, general and fundraising expenses combined. In 2011, Animal Humane Society exceeded this standard by directing 77% of our expenses back into programming and services for animals and the community.
